AUTA president praises teachers and urges board to consider cost-of-living increase

Sarah Liebert, president of the Auburn Union Teachers Association (AUTA), opened the association comments by thanking trustees and administrators for their engagement during the start of the school year. She said staff at three TK-8 campuses had worked "above and beyond" to create welcoming classrooms and described collaborative meetings with Superintendent Meyer and site principals to address transition challenges.
Liebert asked trustees to keep in mind a pending request for a basic cost-of-living increase this fall and urged board members to express appreciation to teachers when they see them on campus. "When we ask for a basic cost of living increase this fall, you'll remember how much time, energy, and effort went into making our campuses and our classrooms as wonderful as they are," Liebert said.
