The Auburn Union School District Board of Trustees voted unanimously in closed session to ratify a settlement agreement resolving a special-education dispute. Superintendent Dr. Meyer told the board the agreement requires the district to establish a compensatory education fund for use by the student and to reimburse a portion of the parents' attorney's fees under the expressed terms of the agreement.
"The board voted unanimously to ratify a settlement agreement to resolve a special education dispute against the district," Dr. Meyer said, adding that the board's ratification "does not constitute an admission of liability by the district." The settlement was announced at the open session following the closed-session recess. No further details about the dollar amounts or the student involved were disclosed at the meeting.
