Jackson County public works staff updated supervisors on a slate of construction and maintenance activities on June 16. Bernard Road overlay work began with sub‑drain installation and the road is expected to remain closed into early August while crews complete phases of the project. Staff said they will attempt to accelerate work if conditions allow.
Staff also reported plans to pour the north abutment at Channelworth Bridge and other bridge abutments later in the day, and said the Concrete Paving Association will take core samples on Caves Road to determine pavement thickness and inform a FY28 rehab plan. Staff noted recent storms produced culvert and washout repairs and that contractors are moving equipment from previously flooded staging areas.
