Long Prairie council adopts updated fee schedule covering permits, utilities and fines

The Long Prairie City Council unanimously adopted Resolution No. 25-02-12-06 on Feb. 12, establishing an updated city fee schedule that adjusts charges across administrative services, building permits, land-use applications and public-works equipment rates.
The adopted schedule sets fees such as $.25 per page for copies (first 10 free), building-permit and state surcharge procedures tied to Chapter 15 of city code, land-use fees (preliminary/final plat $750, variances $400, rezone $250), and utilities connection fees ($300 for new water or sewer connections). The schedule also sets police, fire and enforcement fees including rural fire response at $600 per hour and false-alarm charges at $200 per incident. The fee schedule adds permit types including a shed permit and a fence permit and standardizes public-works equipment operator rates at $140/hour for heavy equipment and $120/hour for tractors and mowers.
Council member Schroeder moved to adopt the resolution, Council member Gripne seconded, and the motion carried unanimously. The council noted departments reviewed increases against other cities’ schedules. The council directed that police forms be updated to reflect the new rates and that the new amounts apply once updated forms are in use.
