Long Prairie council approves application for up to $1 million Clean Water loan

The Long Prairie City Council on Feb. 26 approved a resolution to apply for a loan from the Minnesota Public Facilities Authority’s Clean Water Revolving Fund, with the city estimating the loan amount at $1,000,000 to cover municipal wastewater treatment system improvements.
Council member Clint Krueger moved to approve Resolution 25-02-26-08; Council member Lilah Gripne seconded the motion and it passed unanimously. The resolution states the city has the legal, financial and technical capacity to repay the loan and expresses the city’s intent to use loan proceeds to reimburse construction costs made prior to issuance of a general obligation bond. The resolution was adopted on Feb. 26, 2025, and signed by Mayor James Kreemer and City Administrator Candace Bruder.
