Traverse County commissioners unanimously approved final SP 078-615-017 to Mark Sand and Gravel for $23,471.25 on a motion by Mark Gail, seconded by Chad Metz. County Engineer Chad Gillespie told the Board the award will allow scheduled road work to proceed and provided several operational updates.
Gillespie said the highway department’s 2027 equipment needs include a Tandem Plow/Gravel Truck and that approval will be needed by June 16, 2026 to obtain 2026 pricing that would be billed in 2027. He also reported dust control is scheduled for May 26 and noted a preconstruction meeting for the box culverts project occurred on May 12; staff discussed hauling crushed concrete options for upcoming work. The motion to award SP 078-615-017 passed unanimously.
