Local resident raises airport maintenance and tax concerns during public comment

During the public-comment period, Russ Perkinson of Grays Point Road (Topping) addressed airport maintenance and finance.
Perkinson thanked board members for moving mowing of the runway edge to county crews but suggested the county consider buying a bush hog instead of using the county’s finishing mower, saying "I don't think you need to mow it every week. I think every 3 weeks like it used to be would be very sufficient." He also noted appreciation for the new terminal building but cautioned the board to consider long-term operating costs and questioned a large proposed reduction in the airplane tax rate that could shift maintenance costs to county coffers.
Chair Don Harris thanked Perkinson for the comments and closed the public-comment period; no formal action on the airport taxes or mowing schedule was taken at the meeting.
