He highlighted grant activity, saying Westchester County urban renewal/flood mitigation funding provided about $1,600,000 toward projects and that the department is pursuing DEC and EFC grants for additional work. David also discussed a preliminary study of floating solar at the reservoir but warned staff must protect the city contractually from future removal costs or subsurface liabilities.
On sewer and stormwater, David said Peekskill maintains 47 miles of sewer pipe, eight pumping stations and a sewer fund balance of about $3,330,000. He described grant plans to replace riverfront pumping stations and upsize storm piping in water‑quality projects intended to reduce inflow and infiltration. Council asked about wastewater treatment capacity; David said the county plant"s rated capacity was discussed in the presentation but noted the plant accepts flows from neighboring municipalities and that wet-weather flows significantly raise the volume the county handles.
