Trustees weigh follow-up after Red Cross pilot left several homes with unmet work

Trustees were told that an American Red Cross pilot program and follow-up by Team Rubicon addressed home fire safety and mitigation for a set of local residences but left several properties with unfinished work. A trustee reported that the program initially identified about 25 homes and that "there's still approximately 0.5 a dozen homes that are deficient from where a commitment was made through the American Red Cross program" and asked the town to consider next steps.
The trustee outlined three options: invite Team Rubicon back to complete the remaining items; have the town address deficiencies internally using public-works staff and volunteers; or accept current progress and wait for another program to address the outstanding properties. The trustee said the matter will be taken up at the next FMAC meeting and that additional logistics and priorities will be worked through with staff and the citizen advisory committee.
Residents and trustees expressed appreciation for the volunteers. In public comment, Anne Ash said the program made a difference at her house and thanked trustees and volunteers for visiting properties and removing hazardous trees. The board did not take a formal vote on next steps at the meeting but signaled intent to refine options at an upcoming committee meeting.
