Crest program shifts to Stafford hub; district to demolish several surplus houses after salvage and abatement

Operations staff highlighted that the move allows Crest staff to support garden beds and school programs across campuses and that some summer camps or smaller programs could use the new NPR space.
On surplus properties, Remo Douglas outlined a package of four residential structures that operations will abate and remove because they are in poor condition, create safety liabilities and impose ongoing maintenance costs. He said asbestos testing and abatement work would begin at the end of the week and that demolition work would likely occur between September and October once permits and designs are complete. Douglas added the district will attempt to salvage usable items (science equipment, murals) and store or relocate them to campuses where feasible.
