Court agrees to step increases for eligible staff, holds grade changes for later review
Summary
After reviewing requests to correct step disparities, the court agreed to move qualifying staff up the step scale (per the new policy) but declined across-the-board grade promotions today; a judge's letter requesting a court-coordinator reclassification was read and set aside for separate consideration.

Kendall County commissioners reviewed a list of employees identified by departments as eligible for step increases under the court’s recently adopted pay policy. The list — compiled in response to earlier salary discussions — includes several deputies, engineers, and court staff who would move up prescribed steps to correct hire-date or experience gaps. The court agreed to treat step moves consistently across departments, leaving any grade reclassifications for later review with supporting market data.
A letter from the 451st Judicial District judge requesting a pay-grade upgrade for her court coordinator (Mateo Santos) based on a Certified Court Manager credential was read into the record. Commissioners said they would address step moves now since those are supported by the existing policy, and they postponed grade or title upgrades so staff can present job-description comparisons and market analysis if reclassification is requested.
