Council awards $22,295 contract to repair sinkhole at Municipal Lot #1

Streets Supervisor Bob Phillips told council Aug. 13 that a sinkhole at Municipal Lot #1 had damaged a 24‑inch clay tile and left pipes disconnected. Consultant Bob Carpenter and Engineer Tim Wells recommended replacing the clay tile, reconnecting pipes in the sinkhole to the 24‑inch line, installing a larger catch basin and replacing roughly 10 feet of pipe.
Council compared two estimates—Mansfield at $22,295 and McLallen Construction at $23,450—and voted to award the work to Mansfield. Both bids required the Borough to provide a truck during the project; the motion carried unanimously (moved by Councilor Steadman, seconded by Councilor Osborn).
