The Shawnee school board voted unanimously Aug. 5 to buy a 42' x 24' Arctic Temp walk-in freezer for Child Nutrition at a cost of $299,943.70, and to accept the lowest responsible bid—$576,000—from A & S Roofing to supply and install bleachers at Shawnee High School's baseball field.
Jeanne Swinney moved to "purchase an Arctic Temp Walk In Freezer Box 42' X 24', from ONDEMAND in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma in the amount of $299,943.70," and Turner Bass seconded the motion, which carried 7–0. Turner Bass moved to accept the lowest responsible bid of $576,000 from A & S Roofing for the bleachers; the motion was seconded by Jeanne Swinney and approved by the board.
The purchases were presented as part of routine business requiring board action and were approved without dissent. The freezer purchase is intended to support the district's expanded meal operations after the district qualified for CEP funding earlier in the meeting.
