The board approved moving forward with legal counsel engagement to assist with a potential fire millage renewal or increase, authorizing Clark Hill to provide necessary services for ballot language review, letters and related counsel work in an amount not to exceed $15,000. Staff said they will work with financial advisor Steven Burke, the fire authority, and counsel to assemble the materials required to inform a potential August ballot.
"Should there be letters that have to be sent out, along with the actual ballot language review, and and, writing of the ballot language for that," a staff presenter said when explaining the scope of services the engagement cover. The motion to accept the engagement letter passed unanimously; Treasurer Harnett moved the motion and Trustee O'Connell seconded it.
