Makanda board approves Illini Asphalt oil‑and‑chip contract and adopts 2025 MFT request

"Cost estimate for 5,158 gallons of oil at $3/gallon and 257 tons of CA-16 rolled at $35 per ton totals $24,469.00," President Tina Shingleton said while presenting the bid. Trustee Ross moved to accept the proposal and Trustee Dalton seconded; a voice vote was recorded as unanimous.
Shingleton then presented the Village’s 2025 MFT (Motor Fuel Tax) resolution that combines the oil‑and‑chip work, materials and a previously approved snow‑removal allocation. "The total cost for oil and chipping, materials, and previous approval for snow removal is $34,199.15. Requesting a total of $38,000 in case the price of materials increases," she said. Trustee Ross moved approval of the resolution; Trustee Wolff seconded and the board approved the resolution by unanimous voice vote.
The contract award authorizes the road work to proceed under the terms of the Illini Asphalt bid; board members did not list a construction start date in the meeting record. The MFT resolution increases the requested fund authorization to $38,000 to allow for potential cost increases.
The board's roll call recorded Trustees Hilliard, Hagler, Wolff, Cardenaz, Ross and Dalton as present for the votes.
