A resident, Susan Beattie, contacted the president about smoke from a controlled brush burn at the equipment building and concerns the fire might spread. According to the minutes, village personnel said they were exercising caution, that Dan was watching the burn, and that they had called the Jackson County Sheriff’s office to inform them of the controlled burn. The minutes also note the recent ice storm increased the amount of debris to burn and that the village will notify residents before future burns and avoid burning when the wind is blowing toward a nearby house.
Separately, the Playground Committee will schedule an inspection in April with Jim Closson from IMLRMA. The board also recorded that the president ordered six U.S. flags and three Illinois state flags for the pavilion and that Trustee Ross will contact AMVET to inquire about donating a P.O.W. flag.
