The Village of Makanda Board of Trustees voted March 4 to approve an easement for a new downtown water line on the east side of Makanda Road across from the Post Office. Representatives from Horner & Shifrin, Inc., Forest Freyenberg and Richard Howell, presented the easement on behalf of Buncombe Water District and the board moved to approve the request after discussion.
According to the minutes, the board recorded the schedule expectation that "work will begin in late April or early May." The motion to approve the easement was made by Trustee Wolff, seconded by Trustee Dalton, and carried on a voice vote with all members present voting yes. The approval authorizes Buncombe Water District’s contractor access under the terms discussed with the village; the minutes do not list detailed easement language or compensation.
