During the presentation of awards, staff read a proclamation stating, "Now, therefore, Michelle Lincoln, mayor of Monroe County, do hereby proclaim March 2026 as Monroe County Flood Awareness Week and further encourages the citizens of Monroe County to increase their knowledge of how to protect themselves and their property from flooding." Flood staff noted work to support CRS re-verification and the public-education benefits for residents. In a separate agenda item, commissioners discussed naming a new pirate-ship play feature at the Jacob's Aquatic Center "Doc's Island" to honor Jim Bellini's service; commissioners expressed unanimous support and voiced a preference to recognize some community members while they are still able to participate.
The proclamation and the recognition were acted on without opposition.
