Town staff (speaker 5) presented an Excel worksheet used to derive the 2026 preliminary revenue estimates and said the town’s estimated general‑fund revenues total $5,313,750.
"These revenues in the amount of $5,313,750 on the general fund are used to offset taxes," staff told the committee while explaining the worksheet columns for 2025 budgeted revenues, receipts to date, preliminary 2026 revenues and the differential. Members asked why the 2026 preliminary property taxation estimate appeared lower than 2025; staff explained taxation in the form is the operating budget less estimated revenues and cited a working taxation base of $20,406,000.
Committee members probed individual lines: motor vehicle registration receipts were cited as $2,050,000 and members asked why donations and certain miscellaneous lines looked reduced compared with 2025. Staff said some federal grant programs are still under review (one grant being tracked for ambulance staffing and purchase) and that he would research specific grant and miscellaneous donation lines and follow up with the assessor’s office on timber tax receipts.
