Dorset committee approves landscaping, driveway work at 2999 West Road

The Dorset Design Review Committee unanimously approved a permit application from Chico Excavating on behalf of property owner Dov Plowski for excavating and landscaping at 2999 West Road during its Aug. 19 meeting.
Chair Kit Wallace described the proposed work — tree removal, patio preparation, driveway regrading and undergrounding of power lines — and told the committee she has observed the site. "It looks like the work has already been done. The applicant did not know he needed a permit," Wallace said. The committee noted the patio appears to be behind the house and out of sight of West Road and that the driveway surface is gravel, which complies with driveway-surfacing guidance in section 2203.L.9.
Board members emphasized that many of the improvements are not specifically restricted by the design criteria but welcomed the owner coming forward for review. Committee member Arnie Gottlieb moved to approve the application; Ruth Tanenhaus seconded and the motion passed unanimously. The committee reminded applicants that the DRB issues recommendations to the Planning Commission and that there is a 15-day appeal period following permit approval.
The committee’s staff and attendees at the meeting included Zoning Administrator Tyler Yandow; the record lists members Kit Wallace (Chair), Ruth Tanenhaus, Arnie Gottlieb and Lindy Bowden as voting.
