Chris Robles, a resident and founder of Fair Ontario, told the council that the agendized meeting about Littleton Ballpark failed to attract council members and that the city appears to be prioritizing a tourism-oriented sports complex over community requests to repair the historic ballpark.
Robles said residents want the ballpark rebuilt "as it was" and proposed temporarily opening the field with nets and temporary seating while planning a community-backed rebuild. "Please listen to the residents, open this field, get this thing done," Robles said, adding that outside investors are benefiting from the tourism project while the historic park gets little attention.
The mayor responded later in the meeting with an extended explanation of fiscal constraints and the city’s approach to long-range investments, noting that some historical structures cannot be rebuilt to original specifications without significant expense.
