Commissioners direct trial rental rate of $1,900 for South Cliff affordable units as staff works to lease vacancies

Christine (county staff) summarized the pro forma and recommended a trial rental of $1,900 per month. "Based on the pro formas that Randy has run, we would recommend to try to set this rent at $1,900 a month," Christine said, explaining that lower amounts would not cover reserves and necessary services. She told the board the $1,900 figure would include water, sewer, trash, fire-alarm costs and common-area maintenance but would not include electric or internet, which tenants would pay separately.
Commissioners indicated support for trying the $1,900 monthly rate and asked staff to advertise and gauge interest; staff said the housing authority would set formal lease terms when it assumes management. If demand remains insufficient, the board will revisit rates and management options at a future meeting.
