Council members asked about experience with local planning meetings and conflicts of interest; Jamai said she generally avoids taking clients in her own neighborhood and would recuse herself when required for client‑related projects. Councilmember Kevin (speaking during deliberation) said Jamai’s architectural training and answers showed the “objective voice” the commission needs. The council directed staff to bring appointments of alternates to the next consent calendar for formal adoption.
Jamai thanked the council and said she would be willing to serve in either a regular or training (alternate) capacity if that is helpful to the commission’s workload and continuity.
