Mayor Brown reported during public comment that the township previously lost its contract with the regional animal shelter and that the Township struggled to find a new shelter willing to accept animals from outside their towns. He said the Animal Control Officer has been rehired for 2025 but is currently unable to pick up animals because there is nowhere to take them.
Brown said he contacted the county and the township’s 3rd District legislators; he said the County is aware of the problem and is working on funding options for a shelter solution. The Committee did not announce an immediate replacement contract at the meeting; the update was recorded as an operational concern the municipality must resolve.
