Dorset closes on Chantecleer property and extends FEMA agreement to May 2025

Town Manager Rob Gaiotti told the Selectboard that the Town now owns the Chantecleer property, closing on Aug. 15, 2024. The town has extended its FEMA agreement to May 2025 to allow more time to work through demolition of buildings and parking-area remediation.
Gaiotti also reported that Brookside Drive application materials are being prepared and hoped to be submitted to FEMA soon. The finance report noted that the Board of Civil Authority will need to abate the town’s portion of property taxes related to the Chantecleer purchase.
Board members discussed the timing for demolition and the need to coordinate funding and permitting; the manager said the town is preparing for buyout completion and site teardown work.
