Dorset moves to register short-term rentals; new software and outreach planned

The Selectboard heard an update on short-term rental (STR) registration and the onboarding of registration software from Deckard Technologies. Town Manager Rob Gaiotti said the new software will support mapping and outreach to encourage registration.
Gaiotti noted that "the number of active STRs is listed to be around 70-75 or so," and said Deckard will assist with outreach to get unregistered operators to sign up. The presentation included a review of maps and a demonstration of the software's capabilities.
No ordinance changes or enforcement actions were adopted at the meeting; the board received the status report and directed staff to continue onboarding the vendor and the planned outreach campaign.
