Assembly recognizes students, championship teams and health leaders during floor session
Summary
Members welcomed Future Farmers of America students, Scholars in Medicine participants, BHBL state champion field hockey team, Northville girls soccer team, and a North Country hospital delegation to the Assembly chamber during ceremonial introductions.
Before legislative business, members used floor time to welcome school groups, student scholars and championship teams to the Assembly chamber.
Ms. Warner welcomed Future Farmers of America students from Hudson Falls and their teacher, highlighting the FFA motto "Learning to do, doing to learn, earning to live, and living to serve." Miss Peebles Stokes introduced students from the Associated Medical Schools of New York Scholars in Medicine and Science program and listed participating medical schools, including Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences, the University at Buffalo School of Medicine, Stony Brook, SUNY Upstate, Touro, Albert Einstein College of Medicine and Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell.
Ms. Walsh introduced the undefeated 2024 BHBL class B state champion field hockey team (21–0) and coaches; Mr. Simpson introduced the Northville girls varsity soccer team after their first-ever sectional championship and a 14–7 season finish. Mr. Gray introduced several health-care leaders visiting from the Thousand Islands/North Country region, naming local hospital CEOs and administrators and extending the privileges of the floor to the visiting delegation.
Members applauded the visitors and indicated the resolutions to commemorate some of these recognitions would be taken up on the calendar.
