MSU Extension: more than 1,000 county residents reached in 2025; 4‑H enrollment strong

Kai Gritter, district director for MSU Extension’s West Michigan region (District 7), thanked the board for a $140,249 appropriation and presented the 2025 annual report, saying "Last year, either through in person or virtual programming, we reached over 1,000 Barry County residents with our programs." He reported 33 local programs and that 276 extension programs were accessed statewide by county residents.
Lily, the county 4‑H coordinator, said 801 youth were enrolled in 4‑H for the year and that 317 volunteers supported the program (around 30 were new volunteers). Kai and staff also summarized agriculture programming (about 161 residents participating), soil‑test kit sales (47 kits), Kellogg Biological Station field-day participation (more than 140 attendees), and community‑food and water monitoring offerings. Commissioners thanked staff and asked follow‑ups about program reach and fair results.
