County clerk: early voting netted 149 ballots over opening weekend; active registrants about 49,100

Sarah Vandiver, Barry County's clerk, told the Board of Commissioners that early voting began Saturday and that the weekend total was "a 149 voters across the county." She said the early-voting period runs through Sunday and that she did not yet have final Monday numbers when she spoke.
Vandiver said her report pulled active registrations from the voter database: "When I ran the report yesterday, there was 49,100 and some odd active registered voters," and added that the system shows roughly 53,000 when including registrations that are not currently active. She also said the county trained 240 election inspectors in July — about 140 online and 100 in person. Commissioners asked follow-up questions about turnout percentages and daily counts.
