Billings said the reaffirmation was intended to show the board's continued support for protecting residents' Second Amendment rights within the limits of the U.S. and Virginia constitutions (speaker 11).
Board members directed the county administrator to draft a reaffirmation or similar motion and to prepare a letter the board can send quickly to the county's delegates and senators. One supervisor suggested the board could reuse language circulated by an outside correspondent as a template; the chair said staff should circulate drafts by email for rapid review and signature. The motion to authorize the county administrator to draft the resolution and letter carried by unanimous voice vote.
