Public Works reduces hires under cap; Briar Lane repaving deferred

Public Works representative Santogrossi told the Committee there are six vacant positions and two seasonal slots; because of budget limits the township will reduce hires and Santogrossi expects to lose an employee to Logan, dropping planned new hires to four.
He described capital requests for roads and some storm-drain work and said Briar Lane repaving cannot proceed this year because of a road cap. Santogrossi also proposed a high-power washer to support multiple departments and raised the possibility that Construction Code could contribute to the purchase or that a vehicle-wash system be investigated.
Seasonal employees were scheduled as two at 30 hours for spring/summer and two for fall/winter. The Committee asked staff to check whether storm-drain work could be classified as capital.
