John Bibeau told the township committee the Industrial Commission's funds are held in a trust and that recent sales have brought in about $100,000 that will go to that trust.
"The Commission has sold $100,000 in properties in Carneys Point," Bibeau said, adding that purchasers plan to use affordable-housing funds to rehab the properties and that COAH credits will follow completed builds.
Bibeau proposed demolishing a garage on Virginia Avenue and a house opposite the YMCA to make room for a detention pond to address local flooding. He said the Commission is identifying lots without Brownfield constraints for sale and asked solicitor Telsey to prepare deeds for the recent transactions.
Bibeau also reported that the DEP offered an award of "$5 million a year" for Brownfield remediation as long as the township complies with DEP rules; he recommended appointing Albert Telsey to the Brownfield committee for the DuPont site and Adam Telsey to handle other sites.
