Public Works says crews finishing cemetery repairs and Women's Green Pier restrooms soon

Jackie Cordero, Public Works Director, told council that crews have been catching up after December storms and are currently cleaning drains, doing routine landscape maintenance and completing restroom repairs.
“Public works has been slowly catching up since our December emergencies and storms,” Cordero said. She said crews finished work at the cemetery—clearing roots, backfilling trip hazards, replacing markers and aerating and reseeding the site—and that the Women's Green Pier restroom renovation should be complete within a couple weeks if weather permits. She also listed upcoming work on Casino Way benches, the treatment hall, and permanent fixes at the wastewater treatment plant; some parts and equipment have been delayed by weather.
Cordero said the department plans to interview candidates this week for part-time maintenance positions to support upcoming projects. Council members asked for clarification about availability of applicants; she reported seven or eight applicants for the part-time roles.
