Council approves Celebrate Montrose permits, sets new Sept. 26–27 dates

Organizers of Celebrate Montrose asked the City Council to approve event logistics for this year’s Hometown Days, including moving the festival to Sept. 26–27, approving a parade route, authorizing road closures for a pedal/tractor pull, approving a bingo permit and authorizing off-premises liquor sales at Lions Park and Carver Field.
Terry D'Onofrio, secretary-treasurer of the Celebrate Montrose Committee, presented the proposal and explained the date change was prompted by past weather and competing events. "We are here tonight seeking approval, related to this year's celebrate Montreal's hometown days," he told the council. The council discussed resident notification for street closures and logistics for having off-duty officers and liquor permit requirements.
Council approved resolution 2026-23 (bingo permit) and resolution 2026-24 (off-premises liquor sales) for the Sept. 26–27 event; both motions passed with four votes in favor and one abstention recorded. Staff and organizers agreed to coordinate resident notice for impacted streets and to finalize logistics ahead of the event.
