Sheriff Kendall reported 148 calls for service in Round Valley during the prior month, including civil-service calls, several assaults and multiple 911 hang-ups. The Mendocino County Sheriff's Office has five deputies in the academy and has recently rehired experienced personnel, the sheriff said.
Kendall said deputies supported Lake County law enforcement in a recent homicide investigation. He added that human remains discovered north of Covelo may be connected to a case from about 17 years ago; the investigation is ongoing.
