Sheriff reports 247 calls, 14 arrests and new enforcement tool to RVAMAC

Sheriff Kendall updated the Round Valley Area Municipal Advisory Council on public safety conditions during the Jan. 7 meeting. "Round Valley had 247 calls over last 32 days on a wide variety of issues. There were 14 arrests. 7 deputies are in training right now," the record states.
Kendall said the jail population is down but likely to increase as people serve sentences after weather changes, and noted a behavioral health wing is progressing. He also described a recent change he called a "new street takeover law" that lets the Mendocino County Sheriff's Office observe vehicles involved in street-takeover incidents and apply to a court to impound them; he said the California Highway Patrol can also take similar steps. The sheriff added Measure B money has been repaid.
