Round Valley MAC approves letter backing higher pay, additional rec tech for Mendocino National Forest

On Oct. 2, 2024 the Round Valley Area Municipal Advisory Council approved a letter supporting increased pay for recreation staff and the addition of a second recreation technician for the Mendocino National Forest.
Jared Prado, identified at the meeting as a recreation technician with the Mendocino National Forest, asked the MAC to back a change to a 5/6/7 pay scale and to add another rec tech to the forest workforce. Kay Richards moved to approve a draft letter of support and the motion carried "without objections." Prado told the MAC they hope to recruit high-school interns and volunteers and warned of rising workload as grow sites return to forest lands: "he says he can't run a chain saw alone!"
The letter of support was finalized and emailed during the meeting. Prado said he will provide a fuller presentation on staffing and needs at a public meeting in Willows next week. The MAC's approval is a formal local endorsement to accompany outreach to the Mendocino National Forest and related partners.
