Council approves $15,000 amendment for July 4 parade security

The Enumclaw City Council approved Resolution No. 1881 on June 22 to authorize distribution of $15,000 previously authorized by council for July 4 parade security and event staffing.
Parks Director Lina Hicks explained the recommended breakdown: $8,500 to cover barriers lining the parade route, $2,500 for overtime to compensate six additional city staff working the event, and $4,000 allocated to the Chamber of Commerce to hire security and event staffing. "The funds have already been authorized by council. This would just kind of break it up, of how we're going to spend it," Hicks said. Council moved, seconded and approved the resolution by voice vote.
The allocation is intended to support parade safety and staffing for the city’s July 4 activities, which include a 9:30 a.m. commemoration on the City Hall steps and a noon parade on Cole Street.
