District staff reported that a cabinet in a district conference room contained historical materials tied to Auburn Grammar School, including trophies, documents and fossils associated with local history. Staff said county historian Carol Kramer reviewed the items and recommended they be donated to the Placer County Museum and Collections so they can be inventoried, conserved and made available for display or loan.
Trustees discussed loaning items for the Auburn Grammar 110th anniversary display, digitization to allow web links from the district site, student-facing programs and the possibility of borrowing items back for school displays. The board moved to approve option 1 — surplus the items and donate them to the county collections — and the motion passed unanimously. Trustees asked staff to coordinate digitization and student-access opportunities with the historical society.
