Council adopted an artificial intelligence policy intended to guide how elected officials and staff use AI tools. Staff told the council the policy had been reviewed by the city attorney and that it applies to employees and elected officials; the motion to adopt the policy passed 5-0.
Staff noted many cities are developing similar policies and that the draft is in line with what some larger cities use. Councilmember: “I will make the motion to adopt the AI policy for the city.” The policy adoption followed brief discussion about staff usage and the scope of coverage.
City staff will circulate the policy and collect acknowledgments as appropriate; council did not amend the draft language at the meeting.
