Union vice president warns board of escalating student aggression, urges safer classrooms

McVroom urged the board to prioritize a safe work environment and invited trustees to spend a day in transitional kindergarten and kindergarten classrooms to observe behavior management challenges. Board members responded with expressions of sympathy and said the district is planning a Multi‑Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) presentation at the next board meeting to discuss referral processes and planned changes to the MTSS rollout. Trustee comments acknowledged the seriousness of classroom behavior and emphasized collaboration between staff and the district to find solutions.
