Board approves underground electric easement with Alliant; Conservation reports quarterly activity

Story County approved Resolution #26‑53 on Feb. 24 to enter into an underground electric line easement with Iowa Power and Light Company (Alliant) in Section 22, Warren Township. Conservation Director Mike Cox reported the easement allows IPL to place an underground electrical line across county property next to the Prairie rail trail and stated the easement "will not impact the trail." Murken opened and immediately closed the public hearing at 10:19 a.m., and the resolution passed on a roll call vote recorded as unanimous among members present.
Following the easement vote, Cox presented the Conservation quarterly report, discussing school and public programming, natural resources work, staffing, bond project progress and upcoming events. The Conservation Board recommended approval of the easement before the supervisors voted in favor; the County will proceed with the easement as approved.
