Committee warns five‑story height could loom over neighborhoods

“One of the issues I have with this focus area is the topography difference,” a committee member said, arguing that five stories could be out of scale for parts of the corridor and “it would not blend in.” Staff responded that height limits and stepbacks are still under discussion and that the draft can be tailored so properties that are adjacent to residential neighborhoods receive different standards than larger redevelopment parcels.
Members asked staff to return with map‑based recommendations showing where taller buildings would be appropriate and where lower maximums and stepbacks should apply.
