County approves $11,636 purchase of MetroCount traffic counter to restore low-volume road counts

Lancaster County approved a purchase order for a MetroCount Road Pod VT tube traffic counter totaling $11,636 to support required traffic counting on low-volume roads. "We're currently down to 3 functioning counters, and so we need to, upgrade our counters so that we can continue, with the counting of our traffic," the Lancaster County Engineer said.
County staff said the previously approved equipment covered roads with more than 100 cars per day; this purchase fills monitoring needs for lower-volume routes and helps the county meet traffic-counting obligations used for planning and maintenance priorities. The motion to award the purchase order carried on roll call.
