Volunteer firefighter describes fundraiser as board approves special-event liquor license

The board approved a special designated license for Howland Volunteer Fire & Rescue (fundraiser rodeo on Sept. 12, 2026 at Randy Adams Memorial Rodeo Arena). Tyler Stellick, who said he is with the volunteer fire department and that the rodeo is held on his family's arena built in honor of his uncle, described the event and its purpose: "All the funds raised go to the Highland Fire Department so we can buy equipment and that that, the county board and that, can't fund so we can better serve our community."
Commissioners expressed support for the fundraiser and moved approval; the motion carried on roll call. The board requested Stellick provide his name for the record; he did so during the meeting.
