Board to align extracurricular eligibility with MSHSL for full-time online students, extend expectation to grades 7–8

The minutes state MSHSL will require, beginning in 2027, that students in grades 9–12 who attend an accredited public online school participate in activities through their enrolling district. The board agreed LCWM should apply this same expectation to students in grades 7–8 and to all 7–12 LCWM activities; the discussion noted the change does not affect homeschooled students or Postsecondary Enrollment Options (PSEO) students. The board plans to coordinate with the incoming Activities Director to develop a consistent process that aligns Policy 535 (Non-Athletic Extra- and Co-Curricular Activities) with MSHSL expectations.
