Council approves $42,981 change order for Kirksville Regional Airport terminal; project remains funded by grants

The Kirksville City Council voted to authorize Change Order 8 to the contract with Coyle Construction for the Kirksville Regional Airport terminal project, increasing the contract total by $42,981.38. Airport Director Jeff LaFountain told the council the original contract from September 2024 was $4,653,200 and that seven prior change orders had added $355,010.93.
LaFountain outlined the items in the change orders — including additional fireproofing, soil stabilization, gate installation for emergency access, added ADA‑compliant fixtures and TSA‑requested secure doors at the ticket counter — and said the project remains funded primarily by multiple federal grants and state‑allocated funds. "This proposed change order will increase the total construction project by $42,981.38, bringing the new total to $5,051,192.31," he said. Council approved the measure on first and second reading.
