Adult Community Center reports increased participation, new grants and facility improvements

"So I'm Katie Bridal. I'm the coordinator of the Marshall Adult Community Center," she said, and then outlined services and partnerships. The center reported 431 unique participants checked in during the prior 12 months (366 members and 65 nonmembers) and nearly 16,000 program check‑ins across more than 2,000 scheduled events and room rentals.
Bridal described partnerships with Lutheran Social Services (meals on wheels and on-site dining), United Community Transit (transportation for seniors during program hours billed to the center), and SMSU for multicultural programming. She said volunteers logged more than 800 hours and the Paul and Alma Schwann Aging Trust Endowment Fund provided a $20,000 grant for enhanced programming.
Facility work in the past year included replacing nine original windows, adding a kitchenette, addressing an uneven exterior step for safety, and updating the center’s code of conduct and outreach materials. Bridal asked council to note ongoing concerns about parking‑lot drainage that causes pooling and winter icing near a primary exit; she said staff will continue to request improvements.
