Council accepts single low bid for runway snowblower, authorizes FAA grant application

Marshall City staff told the council that one bid was received on July 9 for project AP051, a self‑propelled runway snowblower, and recommended awarding that bid.
"Back on July 9, 1 bid was received," staff said, adding the lone bid totaled $706,001.75, compared with the earlier CIP estimate of $900,000 (which had been planned as $634,500 in grants and $265,500 in local bonding). Staff said the FAA limited machine size options, requiring the city to downsize the originally envisioned model.
Council moved to award the bid and to authorize staff to submit the FAA grant application to cover up to 95% of the purchase price. Staff said the grant funding is expected and that the city’s local share will be substantially reduced if awarded. Both motions passed.
