The Hill City Public School District board approved the appointment of legal counsel and district data‑privacy officers at its Jan. 7 organizational meeting.
The minutes record appointment of John Colosimo and/or the law firm Pemberton Law as the board’s attorney; the motion was made by Jay Zapzalka and seconded by Ron Saxton and passed 4‑0 (two members absent). The board also designated the superintendent as the district’s HIPAA security officer and the controller as the HIPAA privacy officer; that appointment was approved by a unanimous vote. These designations authorize officials to serve in required compliance and data‑security roles for district health information handling.
